Alex Allan

Following a two year spell at Edinburgh as an EDP, Alex Allan signed for Glasgow Warriors on a two-year deal commencing at the start of the 2014/15 season.

He joined Edinburgh’s elite development roster in the summer of 2012 having represented Scotland at under-17, under-18 and under-20 level.

Allan made his Scotland debut as a second half substitute for Gordon Reid in the opening 24-6 win against the USA on the 2014 summer tour. Also, Alex was called up to the pre-RBS 2016 Six Nations training camp.

The front rower was part of the Harrogate RUFC side which won the Yorkshire Cup as a junior, while attending Sedbergh School in Cumbria and being unbeaten in his final year playing for the 1st XV and being named Rugby World School Team of the Year.

Allan came off the bench to play for Sale Sharks against Saracens in the LV Cup in 2011, while also playing for Loughborough Students, helping them get promoted from National Two to National One.

While plying his trade for city side Edinburgh Accies, Allan made his senior professional debut for the Edinburgh in the European Champions Cup against Munster in 2013.

The progress of the pacy prop was such that he was awarded the Macphail scholarshp to New Zealand for the summer for 2013, however a leg break at the end of the season robbed him of the opportunity.

Fortunately, Allan had his cast removed at the start of the May and began his rehabilitation programme with the view to challenging for selection at the start of the 2013/14 campaign.

During January 2014, Allan came off the bench in Scotland A's 16-16 draw with England Saxons at Scotstoun.

In November 2015, Allan scored his first try for Glasgow in a 31-19 victory over Ospreys at Scotstoun.

His most memorable moment in a Warriors shirt came in a victory against the Dragons at Rodney Parade during the 2016/17 season, with the prop scoring a solo try from 25 metres out.
